A video emerged of the trophy being smashed to smithereens at City’s training ground but all is not as it seems…
A video has surfaced online of Manchester City allegedly dropping the Premier League trophy, however, all is not as it seems…
City paraded the trophy across Manchester city centre after they became the first English team to complete the domestic treble of winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the same season.
The party atmosphere at the club looked to have taken an awkward turn when a video surfaced online of the Premier League trophy allegedly being smashed to bits at their training ground.
City striker Sergio Aguero can be seen shuffling away as the ‘trophy’ lies on the floor after appearing to fall down two stories. Below you can see the video that caused the social media storm.
Thankfully, this was a carefully planned stunt and the trophy is safe and secure!
City have experienced cup mishaps in the past when Oleksandr Zinchenko accidentally knocked over the Premier League trophy when they lifted the crown last season.
However, it wasn’t as bad as when Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos dropped the Copa del Rey under a moving bus in 2011.
The Citizens secured the unprecedented domestic treble feat with their 6-0 thrashing of Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
They won the Carabao Cup with a victory on penalties against Chelsea in February and pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title earlier this month.
