The Hammers have been linked with strikes for Michy Batshuayi, Danny Drinkwater and Maxi Gomez final month
Manuel Pellegrini insisted he was not pissed off with West Ham United’s switch exercise – or lack of it – within the January window.
After bringing in Samir Nasri on a free transfer on New Year’s Eve, the Hammers didn’t add another gamers to their injury-hit squad.
That was regardless of sturdy curiosity in, amongst others, Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez and Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.
Nonetheless, Marko Arnautovic’s decision to stay – and potential strikes away for Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez failing to materialise – means Pellegrini has to stay with what he has acquired for the rest of the season.
Batshuayi’s obvious determination to decide on Crystal Palace over West Ham raised eyebrows on deadline day, however Pellegrini insisted he was solely ever inquisitive about signing a striker if one was transferred out.
“I’m not pissed off,” he mentioned. “We didn’t have any curiosity in bringing a brand new participant right here except we offered one.
“We have a squad, we have some players with long injuries but we have other players.
“The only interest we had in changing players was if we sold one but if not, we have the squad and it must be ready to play the last 14 games of the season.
“The only player we had interest in was Gary Medel, they instructed us it was free and we have been as a result of he can play in two or three positions. However then it turned out the participant was not free.
“So I believe that we’ve got the squad and we are going to work with it till the top of the season. Then we are going to see in the summertime what we have to do. The January window doesn’t supply many options.”
