Doncaster Rovers have sacked defender Niall Mason following his conviction for sexual assault.

The 22-year-old pleaded responsible to the cost in January following an incident final 12 months.

He was handed a six-month jail sentence, suspended for 2 years, and positioned on the intercourse offenders’ register for seven years.

A press release launched by the League One membership on Monday stated: “Rovers have cancelled the contract of Niall Mason after he withdrew an attraction in opposition to his dismissal by the membership.


“Rovers opened inner disciplinary proceedings instantly following his responsible plea for a sexual offence at Sheffield Crown Court docket.”
Mason’s sacking ends a spell at Doncaster which started in August 2016, initially on mortgage from Aston Villa.

The transfer grew to become everlasting on the finish of the 2016/17 season. He made 120 appearances for the membership.
